Hyatt Regency Sydney

In 2013, M&L Hospitality launched a $160m redevelopment that would revitalise the convention and exhibition precinct in Sydney. The redevelopment added a new 26-story glass tower, providing an additional 220 guest rooms and commercial office suites.

UT Consulting was engaged to integrate the existing legacy technology systems, and design new systems that would position the hotel with a world-class technology solution. The 161 Sussex Street redevelopment project, led to the site becoming the largest hotel and one of the largest convention spaces in Australia.

A key priority of the redevelopment was to revamp the hotel’s public areas and multiple venue spaces. The entrance lobby, concourse, convention, exhibition and function spaces were all refurbished to feature a modern and sleek interior. The redeveloped hotel offers a number of flexible conference, meeting and events spaces and 2 grand ballrooms with panoramic views of Darling Harbour.

The meeting rooms are all equipped with presentation systems, local laptop input and wireless coverage. These systems are all integrated seamlessly into the décor, with LCD panels discreetly hidden in the walls and drop down projector screens. Several of the spaces feature operable walls which open up to create larger meeting rooms.

UT Consulting designed an AV System that was capable of supporting numerous layout functions, room size and guest capacities. The ceilings feature rigging points, allowing for the flexible placement of projector screens while the walls are lined with embedded speakers.

Across the site, UT Consulting oversaw the design, documentation, and coordination of the following technology solutions:

  • High Fidelity Meeting Rooms
  • Expansive AV systems with flexible rigging in the Convention Space
  • 100% Wireless Coverage throughout, supporting peak usages for 1000+ patrons
  • In room IPTV System, with free to air TV, Pay TV, and VoD/MoD
  • New Voice over IP Telephony system
  • Real Time Tracking Systems
  • Centralised Digital Signage System
