Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre

UT Consulting was contracted in 2006 to prepare the ICT network equipment and telephony design to deliver voice, data, image, and control systems over a single converged platform. Our team worked closely with Multiplex, the Services Consultant, and the State to design and document the technology packages required at MCEC.

UT Consulting was contracted again in 2016 to provide AV and ICT consulting services for the facilities $350 million expansion across an additional 20,000 square meters of new space, including a 1,000-seat theatre, 450-guest banquet room, and countless meeting rooms.

UT Consulting has been involved with the design of technology solutions for this landmark facility for over a decade. In that time, our consultants have ensured the convention centre is equipped with the technology required to host some of the worlds greatest and most prestigious events, conferences, and trade shows.

In one year of operation alone, the facility contributes close to $1 billion in revenue to the state of Victoria, and is a prime example of the value that can be derived through PPP infrastructure markets.

The MCEC is also the recipient of numerous high-profile awards including the 2018 Premier’s Sustainability Award, and the 2010 Australian Construction Achievement Award.

UT Consulting was engaged to advise, design, document, and coordinate the following services:

  • Network switches and routers, including interface requirements for the existing Exhibition Centre
  • Wireless network
  • Network Security Systems
  • Voice over IP
  • Integrate requirement to other engineering services to be integrated on the network
  • Integration of audio visual, videoconferencing, and multimedia streaming systems onto the network

During the  project our team also oversaw the installation of all AV and ICT infrastructure and equipment.
