RMIT University – Games & Digital Media Animation Hub

RMIT University provides several games and digital media pathways for students. As part of these pathways, students require the technology to support specialist training in computer generated design, imaging, modelling, 2D and 3D animation, concept art, and game environments.

UT Consulting were engaged to create technology-rich, bespoke, and specialised teaching environments for the RMIT Games & Digital Media Animation Hub.

Several of the spaces included unique performance requirements, including UHD resolution video with a 60 Hertz refresh rate and a 4:4:4 colour space. Similarly, rooms were equipped with unique audio performance requirements which included 5.1 surround sound.

To provide this level of performance for the spaces, vision sources, cables, and adaptors all had to be considered. The reasons for this level of specificity in the design was because any component connected to the system that was incompatible with either UHD resolution video, a 60 Hertz refresh rate, or 4:4:4 colour space, the system performance of that specific component, while connected to the system, would dictate the overall performance quality of the system.

UT Consulting designed, documented, and coordinated the audio visual solutions in the following spaces:

  • AIM Studio 1 & 2
  • Advertising Studio
  • Game Studio 1 & 2
  • Game Art Studio – Mac
  • Streaming & Esports Space
  • Breakout Presentation Space
